Busy Day Has All Teams Announcing Signings
While the number of players signed may not have been a record, it was still unusual to see all eight United Rotisserie League teams signing at least one player on Monday.
Leading the way were the Clarksville Cubs, who signed the most players (three) and the highest-paid player, Carlos Zambrano at $210 for five years.
“It’s always great to get those Chicagoans,” said owner Jason Hoover. “Getting Carlos and Michael (Barrett) really adds to the distinctive flavor of our team. And heck, (Marcus) Thames is from Detroit, so it’s really close to the same thing.”
Other major signings were Jason Schmidt (Conway Capitols, $140, four years), Brett Myers (Edwardsville Armada, $116 over four years), Dan Uggla (Armada, $115 over four years), and Anthony Reyes (Texas Outlaws, $115, five years).
Signings for the other teams included Felix Pie (Brewville Style), Milton Bradley (Atkins Alley Cats), Chris Ray (Arkansas Cardinals), and A.J. Burnett (Wendy’s Peffercorns).
